The VAOR Rare Badge Collection: Four Extraordinary Ways to Support the Mission

In the world of off-roading, every trail tells a story — a story of challenge, discovery, stewardship, and community. For the past year, Virginia Off-Road has lived these stories alongside the very people who make this community so powerful. Our volunteers, members, donors, and partners allow us to educate new off-roaders, support veterans, restore damaged trails, work with state and national land managers, and cultivate a culture of responsibility across Virginia’s off-road community.

Today, we’re introducing something truly special — something created to honor those who believe in the mission so deeply that they want to help push it forward in a major way.

Introducing the VAOR Rare Badge Collection, four ultra-limited supporter badges, each available only through a one-time donor contribution. These badges are not sold in our store, they’re not given for attending events, and they are not earned through achievements.

The only way to obtain one is through a one-time donation to the organization.

Each badge is rare. Each badge stands for something meaningful. And each badge symbolizes a different level of commitment to off-road education, trail conservation, youth involvement, veterans support, and the future of responsible motorized recreation in Virginia.

These badges aren’t simply collectibles — they represent real impact. Below, we’ll take you through each badge, what it symbolizes, and why it has become part of the VAOR legacy.

1. The Trail Guardian Badge – $500 Donation (Limited to 50)

There are off-roaders who show up for the ride — and then there are those who show up for the trail. The Trail Guardian Badge was created for the latter.

This badge features a golden shovel and axe crossed behind a protective shield, rendered in a bold, cartoon-style design. The symbolism is unmistakable: protection, stewardship, and responsibility. Trail guardians are the people who believe in leaving every trail better than they found it. They’re the ones who pick up trash without being asked, who educate new riders, who help recover stranded drivers, and who understand off-roading is something we must preserve for future generations.

As a supporter at this level, you become part of the backbone of the organization. Your donation directly fuels:

  • Trail maintenance and cleanup efforts
  • Educational programs like Off-Road 101 and Leave No Trace Behind
  • Safety and recovery awareness initiatives
  • Stewardship outreach to new off-roaders

The Trail Guardian Badge is limited to just 50 total badges, and once they’re gone, they’re gone forever. Holders of this badge will always be recognized as supporters who believed in protecting our trails at a critical moment in our organization’s growth.

This badge symbolizes commitment. It symbolizes stewardship. It symbolizes the belief that our trails deserve to be defended — not just ridden.

2. The Bigfoot Benefactor Badge – $1,000 Donation (Limited to 50)

Of all the symbols that define Virginia Off-Road, few are as iconic as Bigfoot. He’s fun, mysterious, family-friendly, and perfectly captures the spirit of off-road exploration. That’s why the second badge in our rare series is the unforgettable Bigfoot Benefactor Badge, featuring a golden Bigfoot footprint with a stylized glow, matching the same cartoon artistic style as the other badges.

This isn’t just a badge — it’s a statement piece.

At the $1,000 donor level, you’re not just supporting the organization… you’re helping shape the programs that move VAOR into the future. Bigfoot Benefactors help us bring new features, tools, and community projects to life, including:

  • Our upcoming mobile app
  • Trail condition reporting system
  • The Off-Road Explorers youth program
  • Veteran support initiatives
  • Statewide trail preservation efforts
  • Emergency response and SOS volunteer tools

The glowing golden footprint is symbolic for a reason: it represents the mark you’re leaving on the Virginia off-road community. Bigfoot leaves only one type of track — a rare one. And donors at this level are equally rare.

This badge is also limited to only 50 pieces, making it one of the most exclusive items ever released by VAOR. Once all 50 are claimed, the Bigfoot Benefactor Badge will never be issued again.

Those who hold it will always be remembered as early, major supporters who believed in the mission before the world saw how large VAOR would grow.

3. The Blue Ridge Elite Steward Badge – $2,000 Donation (Limited to 25)

What makes off-roading in Virginia so unique? The answer is simple: the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The sweeping ridgelines, deep forests, and Appalachian foothills define everything about our trails, our culture, and our community. The Blue Ridge Elite Steward Badge pays tribute to that heritage with a golden compass rose layered over stylized Appalachian mountains, created in the same vibrant cartoon style as the rest of the collection.

This badge represents direction, leadership, and vision — the qualities of someone who doesn’t just follow the trail, but helps shape its future.

At the $2,000 donor level, you become a true cornerstone of the organization. Your contribution supports:

  • Major restoration projects, including post-wildfire trail rehabilitation
  • Educational expansions and new course development
  • Partnerships with off-road shops, landowners, and state agencies
  • Signage installations for conservation and responsible use
  • Mapping, data, and trail technology enhancements
  • Equipment, tools, and safety resources for volunteer crews

This badge is limited to only 25 total, making it incredibly rare and deeply meaningful. Blue Ridge Elite Stewards play a critical role in helping build the systems, tools, and infrastructure that move VAOR from a fast-growing nonprofit into a long-term statewide leader.

The compass design reminds us that every great community needs direction — and donors at this level help provide exactly that.

4. The Off-Road Legends Club Badge – $5,000 Donation (Limited to 10)

And finally, we come to the crown jewel of the collection — the Off-Road Legends Club Badge, limited to just 20 badges total. This is the rarest supporter badge that VAOR will ever issue.

Designed as a mountain-and-forest crest topped with two golden stars, the badge symbolizes achievement, honor, and legendary impact. It represents not only support, but involvement at the highest level. Those who obtain this badge believe so deeply in the mission of VAOR that they want to help build something that will last for generations.

Becoming part of the Off-Road Legends Club means your contribution drives:

  • Statewide and multi-state trail initiatives
  • High-impact environmental restoration projects
  • Major community education expansions
  • Youth and family programs (Off-Road Explorers, Off-Road Angels)
  • Veteran outreach and emergency assistance programs
  • Technology platforms that will eventually serve off-roaders nationwide

This badge is reserved for donors who want their contribution to fundamentally shape the future of off-roading in Virginia and beyond. Only 10 will ever exist, and each one will be permanently recorded as part of the VAOR donor registry.

The two stars atop the crest symbolize excellence and leadership. The mountain represents strength. The forest symbolizes community. And the glowing golden palette symbolizes legacy.

This badge is the highest honor we offer — and those who receive it become part of the foundation that future generations will look back on with gratitude.

Why These Badges Matter

Badges are special — they’re collectible, they’re visual, and they’re fun — but the deeper meaning is what matters most.

These badges represent real, tangible support that allows us to:

  • Clean trails
  • Educate new off-roaders
  • Support veterans
  • Teach kids about outdoor ethics
  • Work with land managers to keep trails open
  • Create tools and technology that improve safety
  • Restore damaged areas
  • Build a community built on respect and stewardship

In many trail communities across the country, poor behavior leads to closures. But in Virginia, we’re showing the opposite — the off-road community is stepping up, taking care of the land, and building partnerships with the Forest Service and landowners. These badges help fund the initiatives that keep off-roading alive and thriving in Virginia.

And because each badge is limited, they also tell a story of the people who stepped up early and helped transform a volunteer-run nonprofit into a statewide force for good.

How to Claim a Rare Supporter Badge

Each badge requires a one-time donation at its respective tier:

  • Trail Guardian Badge – $500
  • Bigfoot Benefactor Badge – $1,000
  • Blue Ridge Elite Steward Badge – $2,000
  • Off-Road Legends Club Badge – $5,000

Once we reach the cap for each badge (50 for the first two, 25 for the third and 10 for the Legends Club), they will never be issued again.

Every donor receives:

  • The physical and/or digital version of the badge
  • Recognition on a forthcoming supporter page (optional)
  • Exclusive updates on the programs their donation supports
  • The pride of knowing they made a real, lasting impact

If you’ve been looking for a way to support Virginia Off-Road at a meaningful level — a way to invest in the future of trails, education, and community — these badges are the ultimate symbol of that commitment.

A Legacy Worth Leaving

Off-roading is more than a hobby — it’s a connection to land, adventure, and community. And in Virginia, it’s becoming a movement. With every badge claimed, our community grows stronger, our trails become cleaner, and our programs grow in reach and impact.

The Rare Badge Collection represents the people who drive that movement forward. Whether you become a Trail Guardian, a Bigfoot Benefactor, a Blue Ridge Elite Steward, or one of the legendary twenty, your support helps shape the future of off-roading in our Commonwealth.

These badges are rare.
They’re meaningful.
And they’re available for a limited time only.
