Virginia Off-Road’s 2026 Budget: $12,200 Committed to Growth, Education, and Community

Virginia Off-Road is proud to announce its 2026 operating budget of $12,200, a milestone that reflects both our continued growth and our commitment to serving Virginia’s off-road community through education, stewardship, and outreach. Every dollar in this budget helps advance our nonprofit mission, keeping trails open, safe, and sustainable for all.

Where the 2026 Funds Go

🏞️ Trail Stewardship & Cleanup Initiatives – $3,000

Our Adopt-a-Trail and Trail Cleanup Challenge programs remain at the heart of what we do. These funds support cleanup supplies, signage, and volunteer incentives, ensuring we can continue partnering with the U.S. Forest Service and local land managers to keep Virginia’s trail systems clean and accessible.

🎓 Education & Training Programs – $2,400

Education is the foundation of our mission, and this year’s investment supports a wide range of hands-on and online learning opportunities. Funds will go toward maintaining and expanding the following VAOR courses:

  • Off-Road 101 Course – An essential introduction to safe and responsible off-roading for newcomers.
  • Leave No Trace Behind – Focused on minimizing environmental impact and promoting responsible recreation.
  • EV Off-Road Course – Preparing the next generation of electric vehicle off-roaders with trail safety and charging know-how.
  • Intro to Overlanding – Covering trip planning, self-reliance, and camping setups for multi-day off-road adventures.
  • Off-Road OHV Course – A practical training focused on navigating Virginia’s diverse terrain responsibly.
  • TrailMaster Certification – Leadership and safety certification for experienced off-roaders guiding trail groups.
  • Master the Terrain – Advanced techniques for navigating challenging routes and recovery scenarios.
  • Off-Road Explorers (Kids) – Our youth education program that introduces children to the values of outdoor respect, teamwork, and conservation.

These programs ensure off-roaders of every age and skill level have the knowledge to ride safely, respect the land, and help others do the same.

🎖️ Veterans & Community Support – $1,800

Our Trail to Recovery program continues to provide therapeutic outdoor adventures for veterans, promoting healing, community, and purpose. In addition, our Off-Road Angels initiative helps connect volunteers with families, veterans, and community members who need support throughout the year.

🗺️ Digital Infrastructure & Tools – $2,000

Technology keeps VAOR connected across the state. This portion of the budget will fund the maintenance and expansion of our digital tools, including:

  • The interactive Trail Status Map for real-time conditions,
  • Volunteer and sponsor dashboards, and
  • New mini-apps that track trail adoptions and cleanup efforts.
  • Starting to work on a mobile app and hiring a coder with help.

Transparency remains a core part of our mission, our Impact & Stats page publicly shows where every effort and dollar goes.

🎪 Virginia Off-Road Festival (2-Day Expansion) – $2,000

One of the biggest highlights of 2026 will be the expansion of our annual Off-Road Festival into a full two-day celebration. The event will feature guided trail rides, live demos, education tents, sponsor booths, music, kids’ activities, and community service recognitions. This expansion not only brings off-roaders together statewide but also helps fund VAOR’s education and cleanup programs.

🧾 Administrative & Compliance – $1,000

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, VAOR keeps administrative costs minimal while maintaining legal and financial transparency. This category covers essential items like insurance, accounting, annual filings, and data security, ensuring the organization continues to operate responsibly and sustainably.

Moving Forward Together

Virginia Off-Road’s 2026 budget isn’t just numbers on paper, it’s a roadmap to continued growth, stronger education, and deeper community impact. Every contribution, whether through donations or volunteer time, helps us protect the trails we love for generations to come.
