Virginia Trail Cleanup
Adopt-a-Trail Program
Help us keep Virginia’s trails open, clean, and beautiful by joining our new Adopt-a-Trail Program! As an adopter, you’ll choose a trail to visit a few times a year to pick up trash, snap a few photos, and share your cleanup work in our VA Off-Road Facebook group.
It’s a simple way to make a big impact and show pride in your favorite off-road spots. Whether you’re solo or part of a crew, we’d love to have you involved.
Virginia Adopt-a-Highway
Adopt-a-Highway
As part of our commitment to stewardship and environmental responsibility, Virginia Off-Road is proud to be partnered with the Adopt-a-Highway program in Virginia. Through this partnership, we’ve selected a number of key highways and access roads near popular off-road trail systems to clean up and maintain several times throughout the year. These efforts not only help preserve the beauty of our state’s natural landscapes but also reflect our dedication to giving back to the broader outdoor community. It’s just one of the many ways we’re working to keep Virginia’s backroads and trails clean, safe, and accessible for everyone.
When you help us with clean up’s, you get this badge.
When you come along with us to help do a trail cleanup or a road cleanup, we will award you with this badge ar no cost to you.

How it Works.
Learn more about the Adopt-a-Trail Program and how you can become apart of something great!
Do I get to pick a trail I want to help with?
Yes, you pick the trail that you want to participate in, visit the trail at least once a year, as you go through it, collect trash along the way. Once our are done, take a couple images of the trash and the group you rode with and post them on our Facebook Group.
Am I the only one adopting a trail?
No, the trail you select is among a group of others that will also help volunteer. Sometimes we can get people together to form a group, other times you would just go it with a buddy or two.
Do I have to be a member to ride along?
Nope, you don’t. Although we encourage people to become a member of the VAOffRoad.org, anyone with a typical four wheel drive system can ride along. Typical rigs can include Jeeps, Bronco’s, 4 Runners, Tacomas, Land Cruisers, Galdiators and Trucks with typical 4wd systems. We also encourage bikes to join us too.
What do you clean on the trail cleanups?
While we do our best to keep the trails clean, some people unfortunately leave trash behind. That’s why we take the initiative to remove everything from plastic bottles and food wrappers to discarded junk and even old tires!
What trails are available to help clean?
We do have a list of trails that could use some help. Current trails that could use some TLC:
- Mountain Lake Trail
- Bobblet’s Gap (August through Jan)
- Flagpole
- Peter’s Mill Run
- Bald Mountain (Big Levels)
