When most people hear “off-road club,” they picture a casual group of weekend warriors meeting up to hit the trails, swap stories, and maybe post a few trail pics online. But Virginia Off Road is not your average off-road club — we’re something far bigger and far more meaningful to the future of off-roading in the Commonwealth.

We are proud to be Virginia’s only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated entirely to the off-road community. That means we aren’t here to sell you stickers, charge for club access, or run social meetups just for fun. We’re here to protect, educate, unite, and serve.
A Nonprofit Built for Purpose, Not Profit
Being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit isn’t just a tax label — it’s a mission. Every donation we receive goes directly back into the programs, people, and places that keep off-roading alive and thriving across Virginia. And while other clubs might use membership dues for stickers or events, your support of Virginia Off Road goes toward the community.

💡 What We Actually Do for the Off-Road Community
Here’s a transparent look at the real-world impact we make — and how your donation supports it:
✅ Trail Preservation and Protection
- We work with local, state, and federal land managers to help keep public trails open and responsibly maintained.
- We organize volunteer cleanup days and stewardship efforts and reward them with a special badge.
- We advocate for sustainable trail access and responsible 4×4 recreation before it’s taken away.
📚 Education and Safety Courses
- We created Virginia’s only structured off-road education program with classes for new and experienced drivers alike.
- Our online and in-person classes cover everything from 4WD basics to trail etiquette, recovery techniques, and environmental awareness.
- We’re also launching free trail etiquette courses with a certification badge to raise the standard across the state.

🛠 Emergency Trail Rescue Program
- We’re building a Trail Rescue Team to assist stranded drivers in difficult terrain.
- Donations help us provide recovery gear like tow straps, traction boards, and radios to trained volunteers across Virginia.
🎖 The Trail Badge Program
- We created an exclusive, state-wide Trail Badge system that recognizes safe and responsible completion of off-road trails. (It’s for all not just Jeep’s)
- Each badge purchase directly funds our nonprofit operations.
- This program encourages driver growth, promotes safety, and helps people explore new trails confidently.
🌄 Trail Mapping and Access
- We publish Virginia’s most accurate and helpful off-road trail guides through VAOffRoad.org.
- Our maps list trail difficulty, vehicle requirements, GPS info, and responsible use guidelines.
- Every trail listed is scouted and vetted by volunteers — not scraped from random forums.

🧑🤝🧑 Community Building (Without Drama)
- We’ve built a welcoming, drama-free off-road community that includes drivers from every skill level and vehicle type.
- No ego. No gatekeeping. Just people helping people explore the outdoors responsibly.
- We’ve already welcomed over 200+ members in just the first two months of launching the nonprofit.
So… Why Do We Ask for Donations?
Because none of this runs on enthusiasm alone. While volunteers make the magic happen, your donations make the mission possible.
As a 501(c)(3), we rely on the generosity of individuals, small businesses, and off-road enthusiasts like you to fund:
- Trail education materials like maps and insights
- Recovery gear for the Trail Rscue Program
- Web hosting and trail mapping costs
- Class development and instructor support
- Legal and advocacy expenses to protect land access
- Statewide programs like badges, events, and safety campaigns
Even a $10 or $20 donation goes a long way when it’s invested in preserving Virginia’s off-road future. As Being transparent, we have a stats page along with annual goals, check them out below.
