What all does your organization offer?

Virginia Off-Road is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting off-road enthusiasts and veterans through education, community engagement, and responsible trail stewardship. The organization offers a range of programs to educate the public on safe and respectful off-roading, including its Off-Road 101 class, the TrailMaster Certification program, and the “Leave No Trace Behind” course. Through these initiatives, members can gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience while earning digital badges for their accomplishments on Virginia trails. The nonprofit also maintains a growing library of trail guides with maps, elevation data, photos, and videos, and members can access exclusive discounts on tools like the TrailsOffRoad app.

In addition to education, Virginia Off-Road focuses heavily on community and conservation. Members are encouraged to participate in stewardship programs such as Adopt-a-Trail and Adopt-a-Highway, where volunteers help keep trails and surrounding access areas clean. The organization is also developing a Trail Rescue Program to assist off-roaders who encounter trouble on the trails. Membership is free and includes access to discounts, trail badges, educational resources, and private forums. Virginia Off-Road sustains its efforts through community donations and sponsorships, and regularly publishes transparency reports to show progress in member growth, cleanup efforts, and outreach.

I live outside Virginia, can I still join?

Sure thing, while we focus on those that live in the Commonwealth, we gladly welcome anyone both inside and outside the state.

Aren't there other 501(c)3's in Virginia that cover off-roading?

Actually, no.

Virginia Off-Road is proud to be the only 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit in the Commonwealth of Virginia dedicated exclusively to off-roading. Our mission is to promote responsible wheeling, protect and preserve trail access, and provide education and resources that support safe, sustainable off-road recreation for all.

There ARE several 501(c)7 organizations, which are social or recreational clubs.

The difference is that Virginia Off-Road accepts donations from anyone, where a 501(c)7 relies on membership dues. Additionally, donations made through us are tax deductible ans where 501(c)7’s are generally not.

Here is a list of the 501(c)7 social or recreational clubs in the Commonwealth.

Roanoke Valley 4 Wheel Drive Association

CAPITAL OFF ROAD ENTHUSIASTS INC FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CLUB (Revoked in 2024)
